What is a Family Justice Center?
A Family Justice Center brings together the services and support survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of family violence may need—all in one welcoming, coordinated location.
Family Justice Centers were created in the early 2000s and modeled after the Children Advocacy Center model. The idea was to create multi-agency centers that provide services to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and their families.
The goal of a Center is to reduce the amount of times survivors share their experience, the number of places they have to visit for help, and to increase access to services and support for survivors. Cities across the nation have seen a reduction in domestic violence homicides when a Center is present in the community.

What to Expect
The Family Justice Center Executive Director search is moving through several key stages. Check back on the dates below for finalist information, community engagement opportunities, and a Community Forum to meet the finalists.
Selection Process
After receiving and reviewing 100+ applications, the first round of interviews are being conducted by a panel of survivors, city, county, and community representatives.
Finalists Selected
Applicants who move on to the next stage will prepare a presentation for the Steering Committee of the Family Justice Center. Meet the candidates!
Community Forum
Community members are invited to a Community Forum where the finalists will participate in a moderated Q&A and answer questions submitted by the community.
Executive Director Selected
Steering Committee will extend an offer based on their assessment and feedback received from the community after the forum.

Community Forum Details
What: A community forum where finalists for the Executive Director role will participate in a moderated Q&A session. At the end of the session, attendees will have the opportunity to share input on the candidates, which will factor into the selection process. Attendees may also submit questions before the event.
Who: Community members, city and county stakeholders. The forum will give residents a direct opportunity to hear from and evaluate the finalists. Attendees' feedback will be considered in the selection process.
Why: The Executive Director selected will shape the Center's culture, priorities, and relationships for years to come. Community input at this stage is crucial to ensure the person chosen reflects the values of our Austin – Travis County community.
